What are the dates for Camp?

Camp Glimmer generally runs for 6 weeks starting in mid-June and ending the first week of August.

Do the kids sleep over?

Yes, Camp Glimmer is a 2 day.

What types of activities do the kids do?

The campers get to participate in a variety of activities such as nature hikes, basketball, tennis, games such as tug-o-war and water balloon toss, yoga, arts and crafts, and leadership activities. Each day the kids hear from a motivational speaker followed by a question and answer session. On the final day, every group is given the opportunity to visit our partner Candlelight Ranch, where they participate in the canyon zip line, team building ropes courses and equine painting!

How much does it cost for a kid to attend?

There is no cost. It is completely free.

Can I send my kid(s) to Camp Glimmer?

Unfortunately we do not accept individual applications to attend Camp Glimmer. Participation is offered by invitation only to nonprofit organizations currently funded by A Glimmer of Hope Austin.

Can I volunteer at Camp Glimmer?

Yes, however, because of our relationships with several youth volunteer organizations we only have a limited number of volunteer spaces available. Please contact us at austin@aglimmerofhope.org if you are interested in volunteering.

How do I apply to work at Camp Glimmer?

I love what you’re doing. How can I donate?

Please visit the Camp Glimmer profile page. We have a number of projects listed that we are currently fundraising for and we welcome your support! Once you select a campaign you will have the option to donate funds directly to that project or you can even start your own campaign to raise funds for Camp Glimmer.

What does my kid have to bring with them to Camp?

We suggest each camper bring:

  • A water bottle
  • A brimmed hat and sunscreen to protect from the sun
  • Bug repellent (optional)
  • Campers should wear close toe sneakers and light clothing that can dry quickly if they choose to participate in water activities

Is transportation provided?

Yes – Camp Glimmer arranges for bus transportation with each attending organization.

How long will my kid be away from home?

Buses typically arrive at Camp Glimmer by 9am and depart by 4pm, so you can expect your child to be away for approximately 9 hours each day. Please contact your organization’s coordinator for a pickup/drop off schedule for your child for a more specific estimate.

Are meals provided?

A healthy lunch and a snack are provided to the campers every day. Please make sure that your child eats a good breakfast before they come to camp.
