Austin CAN Academy | Athletics Program

Founded as an educational alternative for youth who have experienced difficulties in a regular school setting, one of the academy’s goals is to have an athletic department that is on a par with any district in the state.

East Austin Soccer Club | A Glimmer of Hope Soccer

The East Austin Soccer Club’s low registration fees and “no child turned away” policy are at the core of the club’s mission to serve the youth of East Austin regardless of their playing ability. The club strives to develop their skills, knowledge and love of the game.

AHB provides youth athletes ages 5-18 with the opportunity to reach his or her full potential by developing speed, endurance, and strength while fostering high self-esteem, personal accountability, self-discipline, goal setting, and goal achievement.

Ghisallo Foundation | Cycle Academy

Ghisallo’s focus is bicycle-based mentorship and education programs where youth learn to become self-sufficient riders who have the skills and knowledge to use their bicycles to explore their communities, navigate the city, and transport themselves without being dependent on adults.

Austin Toros | Pass and Score Program
The Austin Toros take great pride in helping serve the Austin community. By encouraging healthy living and education, the Toros aim to facilitate positive change far beyond the basketball court.
Hoop Zone | Balls for Girls & Boys
Balls for Boys and Girls participants must agree to live by a Code of Conduct on and off the basketball court. The Code dictates they show respect towards their teammates, coaches and officials, work hard at their studies and live a healthy lifestyle.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin | Southwest Key Club

By partnering with Southwest Key, the Boys & Girls Clubs have been able to reach at-risk youth that were not being served by its existing locations. Activities including arts and crafts, sports and teen clubs are offered at this site.

Montessori For All

Montessori For All is the first public Montessori School in Austin, with the Glimmer funds they will be creating an Athletic program to sever all students from Pre-K to 6th grade.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin | Teen Nights

Teen Nights offers young people aged 13-18 a safe place to hang out during a time of the week when the potential to either inflict or be the victim of negative behavior is at a premium. Experienced staff is on hand to lead activities that promote positive character development.

Set 2 Serve | Tennis 4 All

Set 2 Serve nurtures and develops Austin tennis community resources to provide life enriching experiences to underprivileged and underserved youth in Central Texas.

Camp Fire USA | Outdoor Education Program

Camp Fire USA programs include hiking, backpacking and paddling. Austin has a wide selection of parks and the experience of guided tours can be the beginning of a life-long appreciation for the outdoors for at-risk youth.

The Explorers

Is an afterschool program that serves underprivileged kids from Kindergarten to 8th grade. The Glimmer grant will help this organization to stablish a sports program.

Central Texas Tennis Association | Eastside Tennis for Kids

CTTA believes that tennis is a sport for all ages, races, and economical backgrounds and is committed to providing lessons to youth, adults, and seniors. CTTA’s goal is to give inner city youth the opportunity to play a sport they would not otherwise be exposed to.

YMCA of Austin | Swim Safe
Austin’s many lakes, rivers and pools make it dangerous for people who don’t know how to swim. Swim Safe for Austin Kids teaches basic swimming to children who otherwise might not have access to this life-saving skill.
Central Texas Tennis Association | Mt. Carmel Academic Enrichment and after school Tutoring Program

CTTA believes that tennis is a sport for all ages, races, and economical backgrounds and is committed to providing lessons to the youth, adults, and seniors.  CTTA promotes the sport of tennis to give the youth of Austin, particularly in East Austin, the opportunity to participate in a sport they would not otherwise be exposed.
